St Edmund's Catholic Primary School

Welcome to our school website, we hope you enjoy your visit!

During the season of Lent, the children designed and set up prayer stations for the school community to engage with. This helped us all be more prayerful during this special time.

Saying 'see you later, never goodbye' to our Year 6 leavers. They treated us to songs, memories and prayers. We really wish them all the best of luck and will miss them so much. As they said St Edmund's will always be in their hearts!

The children did a starlight walk in memory of all those we have loved and lost. Everyone had a lantern and wrote a memory and prayer for those they were thinking about.  We raised money for the charity SANDS who do amazing work to support bereaved families following the loss of a child.

Class 4 have read the book Floodland by Marcus Sedgwick and have been inspired to create some beautiful, atmospheric images in a monochrome style. We sent these to the author with one of the pupil's sequel he had written. This is the reply we got back from him.

I’m really impressed by this sustained piece of writing - it’s very striking and he has clearly engaged with the book and more importantly, been motivated to write a long piece. It’s full of drama and great descriptive writing. Please pass on my admiration.
The art is lovely - I saw it on twitter as you may remember and think it’s all very atmospheric and powerful.
Thanks for working so hard to foster a love of books in these young people!

Some examples of our lovely topic books. The children have really taken to this new way of representing their learning. This fosters not only their presentation skills but also their independence and decision making skills.

Another successful Fabulous Finish afternoon, celebrating the whole school writing project based on The Matchbox Diary.

Friend in Deed weekly community outreach work with St. Edmund's.

We had the most magical afternoon when 6 children from St Edmund's R C Primary School in Bungay visited Chevington Lodge care home!

The school children read books, played games and chatted to residents. One of the most beautiful moments came when a resident asked if he could read to the children. The whole room, residents, children and staff were captivated.

A resident said to one of the children that they should tell their dad that they deserve a treat for visiting the care home today, to which the child responded “coming here has been a treat” ❤️

The power of bringing different ages together never ceases to amaze us. Thank you to this forward thinking school and very caring, care home. We are hoping for the visits to continue weekly, to create more smiles and reduce loneliness. Well done to everyone

St Edmund's children celebrated their link with the Congo School Of Peace with a week of special activities related to the culture of the Congo. Their exhibition was well attended and the Mayor of Bungay said 'We very much enjoyed seeing the exhibition. Your pupils are a credit to the school, so knowledgeable and so helpful.' A wonderful time was had by all!
